>4.2-4.5 GPA AP/Honors student in HS
>schizo hits at 15 but grades don't take a dramatic nose dive till 21 with first majorly delusional psychotic break that should have got me committed if i didn't have 2 schizo best friends to teach me to hide it
>grades eating shit now
>1.5-2.0 GPA due to my brain getting bad
>school tricked me to get me kicked out (Told me to withdraw medically instead of ask for extensions my professors were willing to give..... and said i'd owe nothing, just be on probation. OH HO HO come 1 day before time to register for classes, probation for financial aid isn't how it works. they lied to me. I owe $1500 since they want half the loans paid back since i didnt finish the semester and are also denying me access to university mental health services i paid for since i am 'not enrolled any more'. unless i pay by 8:30 tuesday, i can't enroll in classes and they'll be full in 1-2 days so i wont be able to attend in the fall.)
>probably won't get money unless i accept a front
>tried several anti psychotics. none do much besides make me sleep 14-16 hours a day, and remove voices
>meds don't make me motivated. meds don't make me able to socialize and mingle with people. meds don't make me able to hold conversations agian. meds don't make me happy. meds don' do anything but remove the fear and voices. that's it. other stuff gets worse
>no improvement to cognitive skills or reduction of negative symptoms
>can't socialize or make friends therefore, cannot pass interviews or function in a work environment
>slow as shit, mess up all the time, not even my dad will hire me, and when he does he deducts pay for my fuck ups and i end up getting worse and making slave wages and trigger episodes

So I need to get functional...and employed by October. as in, a job. not selling drugs.

what can I do? the meds fix the visions/audio hallucinations.

but those don't disable me. cognitive/negative symptoms do. they're worse

medfags?

Sounds rough OP. Wish I knew. Worse comes to worse you could voluntarily commit yourself? You could at least leave if you wanted to in that circumstance afaik. I know there's research going on on schizophrenia, but idk how far along they are with any sort of clinical trials. I think I recall hearing something about a possible epigenetic cause though?

>> No.5721365

Very unfortunate.

My psychology professor said that schizophrenia was the worst psychological disorder he ever had to diagnose.
He said the only good thing about being a schizo is at least you know you're crazy, whereas w/ other conditions, you're just plain bat shit crazy and don't know what's what.

I empathize for you.

OP try to post this on another place, maybe a forum like crazyboards.org?

My guess would be that people on this board will be able to offer you condolences at best or apathy/insults at worst.

I offer my condolences.

most people on /sci/ have never been ill or suffered side effects from drugs. med students can only repeat what they learned at school.

if you want to get off meds alternative diets are something to look into. read newtreatments.org, sc &gaps, rawpaleoforum. if you do a venn diagram with alternative diets the result is raw meat and berries. this is what our ancestors ate for about 2 million years. one of the scientists that lived in biosphere 2 went on to do calorie restriction research, feeding mice or rats raw meat and found they were more peaceful and lived longer. he also lived on raw meat himself. he was on an episode of horizon or some bbc2 program but unfortunately he got run over by a car and died.

Sorry OP, this is a science board i.e
Not that many psychologists.
I'd try to give you advice, because I feel for you, but I don't know much about schizophrenia.

Have you ever tried meditating?

pharmacotherapies are the best things to treat your hallucinations. as for dealing with the cognitive negativity, i'd suggest Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). it takes your cognitions about certain situations/thoughts and restructures them into more constructive, positive ideas

I'm glad I'm not the only schizo on /sci/. Except I had my first psycho freak out at an unusually young age (I think 8 or something) and they didn't diagnose kids with schizofaggotfuck back then so I just had to take every diagnosis on the sun until last year when they said "hey you're a paranoid ass hole" so I got to take some new medication and now I don't assult people.

Numbers are cool, though; they don't hate me like people do.

Well I don't have money, but i did that for 10 months in 2011. All it did was make me take naps all day and hate my life. Then a pet of mine died and i hallucinated even on meds and things went down hill from there and never got better.

Hallucinations aren't required for a schizophrenia diagnosis; I got diagnosed for being a paranoid ass hole. Also the thought disorders and social isolation are the other big factors.

Do you have paranoid type? I suffer from disorganized type. For the longest time my doctors thought it was ADD but when I developed a speech impediment at 19 they changed their diagnosis. It's mainly feeling confused all the time and not having your thought work in a logical order. I have a hard time spelling words or speaking because I remember other words and try to say or speak them. I also have to remind myself that a memory in my head isn't something that happened but that it's something I thought or remembered and got confused with another memory. I have to do dream checks on myself all the time to make sure I'm not dreaming because everything has this fuzzy quality to it. If I look too hard at something everything else starts to blur and I can't focus my thoughts. As I was writing this I tried to stay focused on the screen by remembering my name and I blanked on my name for a few seconds. It's pretty scary at times knowing that you're not able to keep your thoughts straight or read well. My reading is less than a third of what it was in high school and I have a hard time reading some words. I can't concentrate on math and keep things in the proper order so I switched to Classics. I'm thinking of dropping out because I have a hard time keeping focused on wirds. Some advice would be to take things slow. There are a lot of drugs on the market and your doctors can choose the right ones for you, but it takes time to pick the right ones. There's also a way to get social securyt money from the government if you have a mental issue. Ask /jp/ about it because a lot of guys know how to scam the system and get money. For the social aspect, use Skype to chat with friends online and make friends there. Typing is easier than speaking for me but both are pretty hard. I heard paranoid type does better with typing and with relationships that arent;' face to face. If you really need a job go for manual labor and stay away from the service industry.

Your post is logical and well-written.
What meds have you tried? Name all and approx. doses.
Tell about psychosis and hallucinations. What's it about? (Just curious. If it's triggering for you then don't)
I can suggest you try quetiapine + sertraline, and after a week of that + moderately high doses of piracetam.
Trifluoperazine unlike quetiapine is an old typical antipsychotic though it may be useful here because it has somewhat "liberating" effect with only little drowsiness.

smoke DMT, try mushrooms, etc.

Sometimes the only cure is to go into spiritual/paranormal stuff, I've heard shamans were the people with schizophrenia and they are 'spiritually' awakened.

Schizophrenics are mentally ill people who need help and care and who often eventually can live a relatively normal life when proper meds have been found and "accepted" in several months. But spiritual/paranormal strongly biased schizophenics and schizotypals need to be shoot right in the very place where they'll start to rant about human aura, ghosts, astrology, alternative medicine instead of normal, telegony, free energy from "ether" and other scientology like that. These overvalued ideas can't be eradicated with drugs as they become parts of formed "magical thinking".

OP How the fuck can you have both schizophrenia and ADD? They are polar opposites in the same spectrum, if you think you have ADD it's just another symptom of your shizo, do NOT medicate with typical ADD medication/recreational drugs.

You need to eat healthy and work out. It doesn't need to be a lot of workout, just enough to slightly push your physical limits ever forward. All sorts of candy and trash food are banned, they contribute to imbalancing you. Buy veggies and cook them properly, roasting etc can make them delicious. Have some meat in your diet but not too much.

Write up, as cleanly as possible, how they tricked you into leaving the school. Threaten to go to the press/Internet/whatever if they hound you with their treasenous bills.

Avoid psychoactive compounds unless you know they work for you (coffee, tea etc. might be ok, but nothing more powerful). You need to heal your mind with somatopsychic effects, hence the excerise and healthy eating. Get enough sleep, don't get up too late in the mornings.

I wish you luck OP.

basically there is no cure for schizophrenia. perhaps clozapine or risperidone take away some of the negative symptoms but they have huge side effects like agaranulocytosis.

the LSD treatment is highly risky as it could make your dellusions worse and make you go absolutely insane while on it.

i recommend taking it with one of your schizo friends in a safe enviroment and work through issues. discuss your fears your paranoias your delusions. at the end of it hopefully you will be able to have a firmer grip on reality as well as be able to overcome the negative symptoms by seeing the intrinsic beauty of reality.
