I’m in the process of becoming a medfag too. You should’ve gone into academia if you actually wanted to interact with intelligent people. Doctors are good at hands on problem solving (well, some of them), memorization, and standardized test taking.

>> No.9678634

The real world is filled with disgusting and shallow normies anon.. Stay here with us.

Derp. You know the answer. Yes, medicos have shifted right on the normal distribution but some are educated beyond their intelligence - they know facts but have no idea what it means. Or they are a mile deep in one thing but an inch wide in knowledge base. In general the normal distribution says if you are on the right side of the curve, everybody seems dumb because they are to the left of the curve from you - they are literally not as bright..

Lets do an "unique problem" 2+7+8+1.221+2.7373221
is an unique problem, yet you're using pre-made laws.
>doing problems you can't just "memorize".
Each building is unique you can't remember a building since every environement has it's own chalenges yet you can remember what to do "if" and how to do "if", "if" not, then try "this" etc...

what do you think ? like eisten or tesla didnt used their field knowledge to try experiment ? that their thought just "popped".

>> No.9678955

The topics you debate about in he medical field come later when you are part of a "treatment team" debating on pathology, diagnosis, and treatment for a patient.

Protip: their bout of psychosis, depression, mania or anxiety might have organic roots instead of psychological ones. Think about that before passing them off to a therapist or social worker.

What topics? Like in the medical field or other shit? That's what confuses me. Also some things I find hard to have opinion on (in the medical field). Like you can't fucking argue about a patient with abdominal pain that he has a brain tumor. Being booksmart is actually required in the medical field from what I've seen.

maybe most med students don't have enough time in the day to sit around and muse about random bullshit because they're busy memorizing all the information necessary to properly treat patients, and this MDs = dumb nonsense is based on their behavior and not capacity, but you fucks can't distinguish cause from effect

>surround yourself with people whose academic career is defined by work-intensive stamp collection
If you want to find people with interesting thoughts on a wide variety of subjects, turn to engineers, mathematicians or physicists. They are - at least on some level - required to understand what they apply in exams and in solving real-world problems. From ability to understand abstract concepts comes an ability to reason abstractly in general, which is the type of person you desire to engage in conversation with.

>differential diagnosis
Throwing the term "differential" in front of whatever practice you aim to defend is of no use - the half-assed guessing game of a physician "diagnosing illness" is nothing more than that: a slightly sophisticated guessing game.

So you guys think going through a list of illneses in your head and comparing it to patient's symptoms is all there is to it? You're completely ignoring the fundamental sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pathology and biochemistry) with which you actually know why shit is happening and why the hell is the guy sick/dying. This only confirms my theory that non medical people think they know better than actual doctors and if they could they would buy prescription medicine based on googling symptoms. Seriously medfags are the only specialists that get told how to do their thing by other non profesionals. I don't tell a mathematician how to solve equations, I don't lecture physicists on quantum theory I don't tell mechanics how to fix my car and I don't ask firemen "but why can't I light a fire in my living room". Yes I'm salty.

well 1) it doesn't help that these people think Biology is field about memorizing words with zero context and
2) they don't realize understanding a disease is reliant on understanding things like biochemistry of the disease.

It's like they think when a doctor says "Parkinson's disease is characterized by a loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta" the doctor doesn't actually know what those words are, and can't visualize the specific brain region or how dopamine transmission works and is altered, but rather, just literally memorized those words verbatim and never thought about it beyond that.
