I have too much free time during the summer and a job won't fill all of it up. Anyone on /sci/ done some summer college courses or anything of the like?

I keep getting mail from colleges with summer programs with the gimmick "Start college early and earn credits!" but they're mostly gen ed courses. Is this normal or is the american college system just trying to take my money?

I'm taking an online course right now. I'll probably fail because nobody ever responds to my posts, and my grade is reliant on discussion so I need people to reply.
It makes it worse that I'm literally the only one people aren't replying to.

In America you have to take general ed credits to graduate, and the summer is as good a time as any to take them.

If you can get them from your institution for a reasonable price it should be no problem. I'm taking chemistry, history, and health this summer from a community college as they're required for my physics degree at uni. I would avoid online courses unless you've taken an in-person course already from the institution you're looking at.

>community college
This, as long as you make sure the credits will transfer.
