I'd always been told that "brain cells can't be fixed" growing up, usually as a deterrent to smoking pot.

But then I thought about it - if stem cells can become any types of cells, does this include brain cells? And could these be implanted into someone's brain?

Even in new brain cells can be implanted the connections which occur between cells are what is important not simply the number of cells. Much of this connectivity is made during early childhood so once damaged its pretty much impossible to recover full brain function.

neurogenesis occurs, cannabis doesn't kill neurons, and you should probably research further the applications of stem cells before making bullshit up.

I see, sounds interesting.

I was asking questions because I didn't know.

Yeah I remember this old theory about brain cells. Just goes to show you that you should never believe a scientists because they are usually wrong.

Pot doesn't kill brain cells. Fact.

cannabis causes neurogenesis while acting as an antidepressant.

In the right conditions, your body usually GROWS brain cells.

i.e. Healthy lifestyle, minimal stress

human brain cells cannot be grown properly from stem cells yet, as scientists are not sure what particular signals stem cells require. They have managed to differentiate them into similar cells, though. Stem cell transplants has only been successful in curing parkinson's disease (a particular neuro-degenerative disease) in monkeys and rats literally like last year. Differentiating stem cells is extremely tricky as different chemical signals are needed for them to differentiate... and not all of these are known.
And yes, low stress is good for you, decreases cortisol in bloodstream and current research insinuates low stress apparantly makes you cleverer. although its only been observed in children. BACK TO THE POINT, long term use of weed is strongly linked to neurodegenesis, and currently stem cells will not cure it, or likely be used to cure self inflicted neurodegenesis.
