I have a pot-smoking friend who just goes apeshit bananas over this low-frequency beat/brainwave shit.

Is there any validity to this stuff? What are your thoughts? I've been listening to this stuff while I study, but I don't really feel any different. Maybe a little relaxed, but it could possibly be myself giving the brainwave thing the benefit of the doubt.

Guess its not science.

sort of, like hypnosis you have to be an attentive and willing participant, it's no good as just background noise

I'm not sure there's any hard data behind it, but I think the general consensus is mildly in support..

don't believe the retarded "iDosing" bullshit for a second, though

the binaural effect is real, but the claims some dumbasses make about it goes from aura shit and stuff to super-human intelligence achievement. so LOL.

>> No.3166281

The problem with binaural beats is that it's quite easy to do on practice, so the average Joe could start producing this kind of tracks without a PH.D. and still get the hearers to get into some sort of "altered" mind state.

Binaural beats is the poor guy's EEG feedback to unverified claims.

(Also, neurology stills a frontier science, so much mysterious stuff we don't really know about it to discover yet)

>> No.3166290

Do most speakers even have range for this bullshit?

Did you know that binaural beats are the origin of the word "woo woo"?

It's meant for headphones.

you are doing it wrong, LOL
headphones dude, you wanted to write "headphones"
and yes, high quality headphones could produce 20hz tones and above

It's for headphones, as they mentioned. However, the beats are also not actually made by the speakers in the headphones themselves. Two different beats (hence binaural) are produced at slightly different frequences. If I play a 100Hz and a 120Hz tone, for example, it will produce a 20Hz binaural beat.

bullshit, it works very good
some people are just less receptive to it than others
you can just pirate it on /rs/ very easily

man, even oldfag wooers like monroe institute sounds like Beethoven in comparision to i-doser

i-doser is the Rebecca Black of binaural beats

meh it's all ive ever tried, and it works
guess ill look up some others for comparison

lol, passive aggresive, hope you aren't MAD.

>it's all ive ever tried, and it works
define "works" LOL (for sure it's not virtual-weed-dxm-whatever hahaha)

Binaural beats for sure works, that's the problem, even dumbasses like the i-doser gang could keep doing some weird sequences for idiot teenagers in the internet, (they stole the whole sbagen code and stuck a stupid interface to it, they are so idiotic they even couldn't do their own code for this simple shit)

That's why serious academia have not being interested in binaural beats since 1960's, all the woo woos stole that shit from them and made a culture / cottage-industry out of it and their unverified claims.

want to make it in the /sci/ way? :
>get some cheap EEG and/or good eeg software
>get some good binaural beats generator (anything but I-doser)
>get a EM free place
>wear shit on head
>scientific method
>???
>fun & profit

ganzfeld effect/dreamachine are better ways to trip balls

I'll go for ganzfeld (actually sensory deprivation is quite interesting for research)

dream machine (the classic one, the one beats did with a LP set) is kind of a kludgy hack(looks something your hippie grandma would have as souvenir), and it's quite much like binaural beats but got you by the visual cortex. (I have even seen some html code doing that, using PC screen as the dream machine)

for a better shit, I would get some brain machine(leds on eyes, binbeats on headphones, the whole set), you know, a reasonable good one, programmable. but without a way to verify what's going on the brain, it's just woo woo shit. (EEG, MRI, etc)

NOW, if you really want to trip balls, do some DMT, no silly substitutes.
