Whiteboards are remarkable.

I dont like the feel of chalk on my skin. Also I find the soft scraping/grinding noise of the chalk to be extremely unnerving

I would hate to be forced to use chalk to teach.

similarly, you know when you use a mechanical pencil and you keep writing without rotating the lead point... so that you eventually get a kind of pointy "section" of the cylidrically part of the pencil lead?

whenever this happens, continued writing creates a squeaking noise.

this shit gets the hairs of my arms sticking on end.

that only happens because retards keep touching the boards. the oil in your skin dissolves the finish on the board, so it doesn't erase as well.

yeah, this is what I was talking about with the pencil lead.... imagine you were writing and you kept your hand there without moving it or rotating the pencil in your hand...

so that you kept putting the pencil lead down on the paper on the same surface, so that rather than creating a sharp point by writing, rotating, writing, rotating, writing, rotating.... evenly....

instead you only do it one side, you get this:

PIC RELATED....

at a certain point the shit starts to squeak in this very low volume high pitched squeak.

it literally makes the cilia in my nose stand on end its so fucking bad.

are you commenting on my insanity or agreeing with me? its hard to be sure.
also I fucking hate having hands literally covered in chalk, and breathing in ghetto ass lead contaminated Chinese chalk dust.

Admittedly, those dry erase pens can smell almost like a dirty hippy.

seriously. they have a kind of mixed BO/pachouli oil smell...

and so the question of whether or not I prefer to write with a dirty hippy or a Chinese cancer stick....

fuck... I guess the hippy.

Have you ever used the ones that digitize it and put it on a program that can be displayed on a projector?

I used one this one time, but it seemed kind of shitty... the system responded really slowly, so that anyone who would draw with it would "preemptively" write slowly, then the system would respond faster, so they would draw faster, then the system would lag or fuck up, so they would have to slow down or erase, which requires special movements that you have to be trained to know before hand....

ultimately it was counter productive unless you were just writing stuff in big block printed letters... when the point is to be able to digitize like engineering and physics drawings for digital distribution of notes for classes or presentations.

and it was just under those circumstances that the author would usually give up and stop using the system.

I use my iPad for notes. Yeah I know, Apple and all, but you gotta admit that having both the benefits of handwritten notes and digital notes in one package is pretty nifty.

I am totally serial. really. The white boards I am talking about were in the CNSI (California Nanosystems Institute) at UCSB (where I go).

its a brand new building (its called Elings hall)..

Ironically, the class I was in was a class taught by Virgil Elings (he started the company Digital Instruments Corp, which invented the concept of a "off the shelf" Scanning Tunneling Microscope, previously never sold this way, and later SEMs and even AFMs, eventually sold the company for like $200,000,000 to Veeco)

it was a guest lectured class on applications of engineering to marketable problems (basically: invention engineering).

his TA and many students tried to get the thing working and it was just too cumbersome.

>>3009775

Same here. Don't really understand why it's necessary. The onlly thing they can do that a board can't is projecting the computer. But can't they just use a projector for that? I mean aren't projectors way cheaper? i guess they're more annoying though.
