the car is pulling the magnet back while the magnet is pulling the car forward with the same exact force. Car would simply sit there.

same concept applies to a large fan on a sail boat, fan is pushing air away from it causing a backwards force, but the sails catch the air and an equal force is pushing the sails and boat forward, so the boat just sits there. Simple Physics

no, not wrong, that experiment is very crude. the fan is so close to the sail, the air flows around the sail creating a low pressure area infront of it pulling the craft along. the concept is proven, this is a crude experiment

then realize that the air is leaving the fan and bouncing off the sail, not being caught by it. The net momentum of the air is therefore negative (in the backward direction) so the momentum of the cart moves in the forward direction.
