Imagine a Manhattan Project / Apollo Program-like effort for AI.
A decade-long, gargantuan effort with an astronomical budget & is overseen by the world's brightest minds.
A program that, by the end of it, would effectively bring us into a new Age, with sophisticated, yet affordable robotics & software assisting us with anything and everything - from physical / clerical work to household living & beyond.

Picture all this R&D & experimenting, powered by farmlands upon farmlands of the world's fastest supercomputers.
The taxes spent on this would likely be at least identical to what was spent on the Apollo Program, though perhaps even more spending would be needed. Perhaps it'd require funding from all of the world's advanced countries to achieve this.

What exactly do you mean? Are you saying that we should make some kind of massive project to train up and improve an AI model? Or a project to apply AI to solve problems in society? Generally, for most situations, traditional machine learning models are more effective than AI.

Consider the recent developments in computer sciences over the past decade - efforts from universities & big tech companies.
This idea is would be to supercharge those efforts until we're effectively in a new Age, brought on by unprecedented funding & talent.

So, consider the developments made right before the Manhattan Project & the Apollo Program. Eventually, we saw those developments & coordinated an unprecedented effort around them; similarly, that's what this idea would be.
