I want to get a Doctorate (4 to 6 years of writing a thesis and teaching at Uni) in Computer Science, but during my Bachelor's and Master's I have not read a single book about programming or comp sci, I just learned from lectures, online and I'm working as a programmer
i do not want to be a midwit guy with a paper but to have real knowledge, what books would you consider necessary to read?
serious thread here
