I've heard that, in the Benelux, students who publish 4 innovative, cohesive and relevant peer-reviewed papers can apply for a PhD title.
Does anyone know if it's possible to apply for a "PhD by publications" from overseas? I'm Brazilian and, here, you're expected to first get a Master's to then get a PhD. These processes together take a minimum of 8 years, and you're expected to live on a minimum wage while you're doing it.
Has anyone here gotten a PhD by publications? How was your experience? I'm looking forward to read from any others interested or engaged in amateur research.
