Have you ever read any legitimate buddhism, or have you just been looking at blogs about shit white people like?

Buddhism is absolutely a religion. It resembles a philosophy in the it makes a moral statement about suffering, and acknowledges that suffering is a reality we deal with. After that point everything, goes out the window when it comes to philosophy.

The buddhist monks who spend 8 hours a day meditating, and live in self inflicted squalor, they are doing that in an act of faith. They have a faith in the idea that they MIGHT one day escape suffering. If philosophy gives us anything, it gives us logic, and any rational person can see that given that suffering is bad, you dont just sit around hoping one day your buddhist brain breaks into enlightenment, you just fucking get on with your live and avoid suffering.
