Hello, I just calculated this here and my calculator seems to tell me I do not understand this:

7
Sigma (k2-k)
k=3

So what I did? The same as it explained to me:

3 12 21 30 39 48 57 66 63
+9 +9 +9 +9 +9 +9 +9 -3

I had a 63, but my calculator spouted a 110.
I read through the papers, looked through the example and I am stumped.
Pleas enlighten a newbie on a precourse.

Hey, I'm reading "Mathematical Methods in Quantum Physics" by Gerald Teschl and he uses some function called \chi\Omega_n, googling chi omega only gives me some stupid fraternity. Anyone know what this refers to?
TLDR; <span class="math">\chi\Omega_n[/spoiler] WHAT MEANS?

Hey /sci/

im sitting on this math problem:
i have to proove that: (n over k) = ((n-1) over (k-1)) + (n-1 over k)

i tried it with mathematical induction and failed. its the first time for me doing stuff like this, so dont be too harsh :)

Why do we allow people to obtain literature degrees?

Hello /sci/...

How much math and science am I going to need to take for a degree in psychology or theology? Is it mostly just statistics?

Can anyone answer me why you put dx at the end of an integral? This is annoying the hell out of me. Why are you multiplying the integral by an infinitely small number?

I read that it's traditional and not completely mathematically accurate, but then I learned in class that when solving certain antiderivatives you're supposed to manipulate the dx, implying that it has some actual meaning.

1000 internets to whoever answers

So I am taking Enriched Physics with Calculus 1. Thus far it is pretty great, it's fun and the prof is really nice. Problem is, is that sometimes he expects us to know things I haven't been taught thus far (or I am too forgetful to remember)

Long story short, what the hell are Taylor Series?
