In what context would anyone need anki cards for Harry Potter? You weren't actually tested on Harry Potter in school were you...?

It's how I started studying French
You take a sentence which contains a word or phrase you want to learn and then you make an anki card out of it

>>23338455
Oh ok, that's a bit more respectable. There are better books for beginners in French you could've chosen (Le Petit Prince, L'Étranger, Candide, etc) than 'Arry Potteur but whatever helps you start learning is good.

Learning to read a foreign language as an adult I don't think you need to go through the rigmarole of reading children's literature to start by mimicking the process of learning to read as a child -- just like the first texts that are taught at school when reading Latin aren't children's literature translated into Latin but actual Latin texts. If you particularly enjoy Harry Potter, then it's perfectly fine because it will help you learn, but it's not absolutely necessary.

>> No.23338609

>>23338535
My recommendation is that everyone should read Harry Potter
Maybe there exists something that was originally written in French which has the same kind of qualities as the Harry Potter series does, and that would obviously be ideal, but I don't think there is for the absolute beginner
The Maigret series by Georges Simenon is very good for beginners with a more solid foundation though, particularly a foundation that has been strengthened by Harry Potter
