I was planning on getting to it after my current book. Why do you think it is overrated?

OP is cringe and gay.

The Bible is overrated as fuck.

>> No.15889966

>>15889791
the book is excellent, it probably owes it's popularity in part to it's length, being broken into three parts each comfortably read a day, making for a nice and easy introduction for someone trying to get into literature.

It's like 90 pages long dude, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to read it in a single sitting, let alone a single day.

Robinson Crusoe. That book is a drag to get through and the adventure itself is tedious.

no, but someone just easing themselves into literature committing to 20-30 pages a day is a good start

What a book. It was difficult for me to understand some of the words and it took me days to finish it. I'd follow a man like Kurtz.

You might as well just read it since it's so short. It's not terrible just overrated.

Kurtz's development was pretty underwhelming. His character had so much potential too.

Not overrated. A very special book. Unparalleled description of how power works in humans and how the individual relates and understands it. One of the only books I was glad I was forced to read in high school.

>>15890132
You missed the whole fucking point of the book then.

It's a pretty good excuse. I have kids as well and I have lost lots of reading time trying to keep up with them. They will soak up your time by alternating between fun and foolish, but no matter what they do they need to know someone is watching over them. If nobody is watching they just try harder to grab that attention, and that's when the foolishness starts to trump fun.

It's been over 15 years since I read it, so my opinion might not be the same if I read it again, but "Armor" and "The Forever War" were way better than "Starship Troopers".

Absorbing and savouring is what second- and third-readings are for. The first is always making sure you blast through, so you can say that you've read all these classic works. Then you pick the ones you like and actually properly read those.
