This is the protagonist of The Idiot talking about Catholicism. I'm pretty sure it reflects Dostoevsky's actual opinion on the subject.

Reading his shit feels like I'm watching a fucking anime. The characters speak and behave incredibly autistically, I can literally picture them in my mind as anime characters and the dialogue fits. They go on 2-page monologues and speeches where they reveal every single one of their thoughts and motivations, rather than just making a point and allowing the other person to respond. It feels so unnatural, like it's written by a super autistic person imagining what conversations are like.
I've read read other classics that aren't like this, is it just a Russian thing or was Dosto an actual sperg? I read Garnett translation if that matters.

What would your favorite author be doing if he was born in the 21st century? Dostoevsky would 100% be posting on 4chan.

What fictional character do you most identify with?

For me it's probably Stepan Trofimovich Verkhovensky from Demons. My values are considered obsolete by almost everyone on Earth and this frustrates me greatly. Also personally I'm pretty weak and pathetic like Stepan too.
