I feel I need to change my art. I can paint digitally and traditionally. I feel I am missing something. Real criticism, no mercy, anon. Help me become great. When I am willing to work 12 hours a day for the next 3 years. If I become great and successful in the next 3 years, I will buy AD for a year to say "thanks anon, you made me draw good and link to /ic/."

Exaggerate the FUCK out of the proportions. You drew him at a height of about 7.5 heads, which is realistic but in a fantasy setting makes him look like a bit of a manlet.

Search up a picture of Warhammer's Emperor and count his height - it's about 10 heads! Not realistic at all but fits well in an epic fantasy setting.

I could argue chicken scratching is more "masculine".
Confident lines are smooth and flowy and have a stronger concern for aesthetics and how something is "said".
Chicken scratched lines are concerned with simply depicting the thing in a rough and rugged manner on top of generally giving a rushed appearance in some cases. Generally lended more towards agressive or "edgy" artwork. Chicken scratch generally wants to do everything, from "chaotic searching lines" to lineart, lineweight and shading in a quick and rough manner.

Women generally do not like rough and rugged stuff as an aesthetic and will seek to correct this error sooner than men.

>>7164381
In his defense these are likely 3 minute max. sketches done with only a shitty ballpoint pen.
Some of the chicken scratch is meant to be shading for fat folds or give him a rough appearance in general.

>> No.7164998

>>7164591
Confident just means you know what you're doing. As in there's a difference between chicken scratches where you're trying to find the line vs someone who is making art scratchy on purpose to convey a feeling of disorder/messiness

Kinda. 70s and 80s anime was my biggest influence, and I think I applied a lot of that to my current art.

> making some shitty fanart in it for a twitter post is not proving anything.
I never mentioned Twitter? I'm talking about comics, animation studios, etc.
The bottom line isn't just about profits, it's also cutting costs.
Also, like I said before, not pro AI. I'm just pointing out where it's all heading. I don't like the idea of artists being replaced, but big companies do look for cost-cutting opportunities when possible.
Lastly, there are people out there making money with AI. They make fake AI accounts to get simps to pay money for god knows why.
It's bizarre given all the free porn, but it's still money for little cost.
If individuals can leverage AI to make money, what makes you think corporations won't eventually do the same? The tech is only going to advance more exponentially.
It'll still be soulless, but it's cheap. That's what they care about.

>> No.7164338

The bottom line isn't just about generating profits, it also includes cost-cutting.
It's not about shitty fanart on Twitter, it's about large media corporations deciding if it's cheaper to go with AI, or keep paying teams of people to make stuff.
Again, not pro AI, I'm just pointing out where all this technology is heading. It's going to suck for creatives looking for work at established companies.
That's why I mentioned going independent in my first post.

Being unable to copyright AI creations means the death of brands who use it, since anyone will be able to rip them off and face no consequences. Similarly, if it becomes the norm to sue AI generations trained on shit you do own, these companies are gonna get fucked. It's too hot of an issue to risk going all in, at least for now. Then again, major companies are known for being out of touch retards, so it might happen anyway.

Lots of big accounts are miserable people.
All you need is one joke at their expenses or not making them feel heckin valid, and they will try to delete you from existence like the absolute bugmen they are or their go to cope is
>uuuhm like ur just a heater n jelous cope lol i have follows u suck
They just out themselves as extremely miserable, immature and utterly soulless meatbags if meaningless numbers is their method of evaluation, so they keep projecting what they perceive as low-value as an insult but to also feel superior to others to cope with their absolutely shitty and meaningless existence.

Any thread where people shit on big accounts and it attracts all the whiteknights is proof that retards have absolutely no personality that whoever has clout can do no wrong, and whoever criticizes this insane mentality, is branded and demonized as jealous i.e.
>Arachnophobe, eh? You actually want to fuck spiders! I'm litcherally inside your head!"

I'm pretty sure that all the big accounts are extremely unstable and highly narcissistic individuals who should not be allowed to participate in society or have any sort of influence over anything. Same as politicians.

Grass is greener on the other side still. When you have those things, you also take them for granted and don't appreciate them unless you lose them, or at some point in the past struggled with it.
A lot of successful artists come from well off families precisely because they didn't need a mcjob and could afford to neet all day at home drawing to improve.
Hell, if all your other needs and worries are entirely taken care of, then the remaining ones (the quality of your art) become the main focus and a bigger worry.

How to I train value? I found some videos like :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1Oy4EYjlT8&pp=ygUYdmFsdWUgdHJhaW5pbmcgcGFpb250aW5n

and this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2iVQEAyB0U&pp=ygUXdmFsdWUgdHJhaW5pbmcgcGFpbnRpbmc%3D

I get the idea of using 3-5 values for simplification but when should I start using more? Should I apply difference in edges (soft/hard) ? Can someone explain this whole process to me? How do I go from value into detailing after blocking in forms with values, I just feel lost.

Yes: that's because the way people paint is organic. You're expecting something rigid and algorithmic, but that's not how it works. Some people provide very rigid approaches (@drawmixpaint, mark carder), but that's unpractical, and most artists work more organically.

Hence the
> just draw
You'll figure it out as you practice

This is the feeling I got while trying to figure it all out, it seems the topic is "huge", comprised of many elements that just have to click all together at one point.

How do you create thick, consistent lines like this? I'm unironically struggling with that.

I wanna say vector graphics too but there's enough little flaws that make me think this is just good line weight control and erasing, I can't do line weight too well because my tablet is fucked but you get the idea, it might look simple but it actually takes some dexterity to make it look good

Really? I'd also say they're vectors, and what flaws I see only further make me think so (the overly thin and sharp eyebrows, some of the overly sharp line ends, the odd turn on the knees which look like amateur pen tool usage, etc.).
Regardless, you can achieve this look by simply turning off line width variation from a brush, boost the smoothing waaay up, draw your line, and erase into ends that need to be tapered.

That's always an option, but I feel like it takes away from my ability to really control the expressiveness of my lines, personally I like grinding line confidence exercises to get good linework more organically
