I'm just holding cash and waiting for stocks to reach my buy points or the overall S&P to reach an attractive enough collective P/E relative to bond yields
Puts inherently have an expiration date which means you have to get two things right, thesis and when it will affect the market
With longs (including long cash) you only need right thesis therefore it's more suitable for me, an amateur retail investor

Now hold your horses there. I'm not in a hurry to sell just because my time in the market isn't long enough yet. These fat wads are their own reward. Soon enough, they'll make 'em like they used to again and the market will fairly value my investments. In short, I KNOW WHAT I GOT!!
