Twitch vtubing is like a cargo cult version/idea "inspired" by the JPs making it a thing. They cite the existence of Ironmouse as predecent that their way is the original/proper one etc but in actuality she was a literal 2view fucking nobody during all those crucial years while Kizuna coined the term, then there was the JP four kings/indies boom, nijiJP and then holoJP building the scene and getting millions of subs on Youtube all completely fucking irrespective and irreverent of her. Then when Cover got big enough to try holoEN that took a scene that was literally almost-nothing on Twitch and fucking overnight made it a new thing and it was not even fucking comparable for the levels and numbers of vtubers on Youtube vs Twitch.

People these days wonder how in the fuck some nobody unironically using TTS got into vshojo like Zentreya, but it's because back when vshojo was being formed vtubers/vtubing was functionally not even really a thing on Twitch and some tts shitter wasn't something that seemed beneath them at the time.

Its easier to make live2D content than 3D. Fan made clips also compete with old vtuber format (vids with 11 minutes ave. length), virtually free and can be produced by multiple fan channels. Classic virtual youtubers, edit their own content which made video production slower. Basically all Nijisanji have to do is talk for hours and they produce enough content for clippers.

This is an argument from 2016. That youtubers such as Kizuna Ai with 3D avatar, and real voice are the real virtual youtubers. The term eventually evolved when JP mainstream just grouped real vtubers with livers together. The difference eventually blurred as they start doing the format from one another (i.e. Kizuna Ai doing lives stream and games, and livers getting their 3D model/doing shorter edited videos)
