What's that one arcade game that's not really special in any way, but holds a special place in your memory?
There was an Aero Fighters cabinet at a bar close to where I went camping as a kid, and I played it every time I went. They also had Capcom Bowling, and that was fun, but the variety of different ships made Aero Fighters more enticing.

Lots of them because they are often pretty shallow but easy to pick up and play. Legend of Hero Tonma makes the grade with its earworm l1 bgm which haunts me today but also peaks hard there too.

I loved this game so much as a kid. A local pizza place had one and I was hooked lol.

Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings is pretty damn good though. Just a really solid shmup with a huge roster of ships that all play unique with great level design and satisfying gameplay that rewards aggression and is a good combination between routing/memo and on-the-fly reactions.

I'd credit Magic Sword as being pretty unique and decent to play. Learning the routes and secret items was a lot of fun, it did overstay it's welcome a little is all.

I spent a lot of time in arcades as a kid but shockingly I don't have one of these as even the small places I went to would have TMNT or Street Fighter and those were the games I'd gravitate towards in larger arcades too.
I guess the closest is Lucky & Wild, which is a badass driving/light gun shooter hybrid but anyone I know who has played the game absolutely loves it and it is sort of unique so I'm not sure it fits in this thread.
Aside from that? Revolution X maybe. It was very popular and it was the last arcade I remember seeing absolutely EVERYWHERE but nobody talks about it now.
