Remember, Kiddy was originally supposed to be Dixie's son, not cousin. The DKC trilogy is really about Diddy coming out of the shadow of DK (originally intended as his father), finding love, and starting a family. You better believe Diddy and Dixie had hardcore jungle sex after surviving DKC2. This based story of the circle of life unfortunately censored got and Dixie was demoted from mother to babysitter.

Aliexpress, gogamegeek, litnxt, keepretro, mechdiy, Anbernic/retroid store

Retroid (Well built, powerful, but expensive), Anbernic (Balanced price, power and build quality), Powkiddy (Cheap, low quality builds, interesting shapes), Miyoo (One hit wonder), TrimUI: (Good build quality, shitty software, good price).

>What do I buy
Post your preferences: Money (20$ - 200$), Shape (horizontal, vertical, clamshell, square), Pocketable or not, OS (Linux, Android, Both), Systems (Pre PSX is 8, 16, and 32-bit eras, PSX with extras, Dreamcast and N64, PSP and DS, PS2 and GC/Wii capable)

>Recommended devices
Prices depend on when and where you buy.
- Retroid Pocket 4 (200$, horizontal, 4.7" 16:9 Screen, up to PS2/GC, android)

- Overall quality of these products is very cheap.
- Reviewers get free handhelds, caveat emptor.

If you want us to go into detail it's because the og hardware is quite frankly not very good. No battery, no backlight, and forced to pay for the games themselves (or a flash cart, which is still extra money). Combine that with the ridiculous reseller prices for any handheld at this point and it's just not worth it. As other anons have also demonstrated, even after proper IPS mods the screens don't look as good.

>Yeah it's rumored there was a development build privately demoed at some point. Most likely it's lost forever given Sega's track record with losing source code for basically anything from the early 2000s and back.

Fighters MegaMix feels like it was cobbled together from various incomplete AM2 Saturn projects, and unused assets. For the most part. The Virtua Fighter cast has a partial moves list from VF3, Bean and Bark models could have come from a development build of Sonic the Fighters for the Saturn. I doubt the models would have looked different, aside from a stretch and squash effect that might have been put in place. The game has Shiba, who was a cut character from VF1. The Fighters Mega Mix engine was based on the Fighting Vipers Saturn engine, with some additional tweaks. It was reported on in various magazines back then that a port was planned for the Saturn to be released in late 1996. There wasn't much information that was made public on why it was cancelled.

>> No.10925556

>They could have easily done a port. Not a flawless one, but a good one nonetheless

Sonic the Fighters started as a gag, when one of the AM2 developers hid playable Sonic and Tails models in the original Fighting Vipers model 2 game. They can be playable via some editing. This lead to Yu Suzuki pitching a Sonic fighting game to Yuji Naka. Sonic the Fighters was built from the Fighting Vipers game engine. Fighters Megamix also has a modified Saturn version of the Fighting Vipers engine, which was used to accommodate the Fighting Vipers cast and gameplay style. Even the FV game engine could have been used for the port of Sonic the Fighters on the Saturn.

Late 80s/early 90s my intro to gaming was grand pappys C64, early PC compatibles and the dawn of the multimedia era, LCD games and arcade games. My cousins and friends had consoles and throughout the 90s i bought systems secondhand. N64 and gameboy color were the first systems i would say i bought when they were still at the height of their popularity. While i have my preferences, i never really favored one manufacturer brand.

Tactics is good for one playthrough but in actuality it's fucking retarded becuase you have battles you just afk in the corner spamming skills to build up jp. Also the growth and unlock curve is fucking retarded where you spend like the entire first half of game playing garbage trash like thief and archer just to unlock shit.

It's a little like ff7 where the late game is when all the fun aspects of the battle system unlocks. For how much people jizz over tactics I thought was like 20% cool but 80% gay.

Ff5 is a little different. Ff5 scales nicely and you get some cool shit early on and it's way nicer to grind the jp. Tldr tactics is surprisingly gay.

>> No.10925023

I think there was a thread recently saying that final fantasy 6 was so inferior to fallout. The point is the same here: FF was the McJRPG, something that had become so popular that it had to be dumbed down for the lowest common denominator.
They say that in the '90s the novelty of RPGs on consoles had worn off in Japan. People complained that RPGs were too hard and unfair. Meanwhile, FF was quickly becoming the biggest franchise in the while country that rivaled DQ and Mario in popularity. Square likely felt pressured to make the game accessible for everyone to continue being popular.
They likely understood that only good players would understand the class system; someone like kids or women would never grasp it, and so Square would lose players. So they basically made FF into this entry level JRPG for the normies, where you could just press A and win to go from cutscene A to cutscene B. In a way, this was the precursor of modern AAA games that are similarly dumbed down for your average 70IQ player. It's a very similar concept, just one interactive cutscene with QTEs.
This is what people who shit on FF don't get. After 6, it was never the same. FF became the McJarpig series for Square; SaGa was for the nerds who wanted complex and experimental mechanics.

The massively popular materia system is basically a twist on the FFV job system. The characters in FF7 are just templates with modestly different base stats and equipment that you can use to "mix and match all kinds of abilities."

Basically, FF7 just puts the job points into the materia instead of to the character, so that they can have a larger cast of characters without spreading abilities too thinly (FF5 has an essentially fixed party for the entire time). And then they further split up the abilities into chunks so instead of having a "black mage" materia you have individual spell groups.

Later games went for a style similar to FF4 but more flexible. The shift away from "Warrior of Light" centric games also likely influence that decision.

>4 Heroes of Light
That's more like 3's system than 5's.

That's an interesting theory anon. Also Aeris with KOTR will never not be funny. Frankly I think she's just not worth it even grinded up. I've played 7 a few times going back to release.

Also 7 the characters have more diverse stats when FF5 is basically boys are stronger girls* do more magic. One thing my first play thru in FF7 I was sure Vincent would be the best basic attack because he shot people and why give Barret anything that's not a gun?
I was only in 6th grade so stats and all that math was beyond me. Vincent is one of the best mages of the game. His limit breaks are trash because you lose control, but turning into a debuff chainsaw wielding Jason Vorhees is fucking boss.

Aeris I just never found it being worth grinding for I've got her lvl 4 and ult gear. I don't think her magic innate is worth it. Also meh towards her dialog.

Yuffie has grown to be one of my favorites even though she's kind annoying.

Oh this is an ff5 thread. Either way I am in a writing mood and really enjoyed the theory you posted anon.

or grand kids

So I was playing Devil Dice for the first time and I noticed that there is a gallery menu and you unlock pictures every time you beat 10 puzzles. But guess what? There is no way to view these images. As far as I can tell the only way to look at them up close is to select the one you want, and then when you are playing you can see the picture on the floor of the arena.

Mania probably. I grew up in a nintendo country and quite frankly don't see why people rave about sonic so much. I did play sonic adventure about halfway through for shits and giggles.

Sonic 2 master system, parents chose it because it was the big release at the time. Completed the game with the good ending and secret level. Actually I remember this game was on the news and they accused it of causing epilepsy.

Sonic 1. My parents gave it to me on Christmas with the Mega Drive. I was 6 at the time. First console and videogame I played. Happiest Christmas in my life. Got to first Robotnik boss battle that night.
