The problem with the WWF study is it extrapolated based on current population growth rates. It fails to understand that modernized societies enter negative population growth stages. The only reason the US has a high population growth rate is because of immigration.

If you look at the rate that less industrialized countries are becoming more industrialized, and adjust for that, human population will most likely stabilize at around 9 billion in 2050.
