We won't be zipping across the universe in space ships in, we're still on earth.

Technology has reached an equilibrium, theoretical physics has not advanced beyond finding a few more particles, genetic modification and computing are more advanced but have not achieved anything spectacular, many industries are generally much more efficient than today but this is countered by the scarcity of non-renewable resources. Coal, crude oil and various minerals still exist in reserves that are in low concentration and expensive to extract, uranium can be extracted from seawater at relatively lower expense although nuclear power is only used for specialized industries and of course weapons, most industrial materials are obtained through recycling which is cost effective due to the expense of said materials.

The world is dominated by water, wind powered vessels are again the only economical way to transport goods, hydro-electric power is the most practical form of energy, solar power is used in some places but they are expensive to replace when damaged, biomass is used to feed huge populations for the reason that oppressive regimes consider GDP more important than GDP per capita, humans are more energy-efficient than machines at many tasks.

For the rest of the world away from the the dams or the coast, rivers and canals connecting them to industrial centers it is little different from most of the world in the 19th century, most people are farmers, there are landowning aristocratic classes who try to transport their produce to the industrialized world for luxuries and arms.

This might happen if theres a rather large war this century but to be completely honest by 2510 we will definitely have colonies on mars or the moon if nothing terrible like mass famine, mass disease and WW III doesn't happen. Without those things we will live longer have more technology and hopefully somewhat close to figuring out how to fuel a warp drive efficiently.

2510.... 18 years after The Great Furpocalypse. Even though it's been almost two decades since it happened, the world is still reeling in the affects of that devastating event.

You see, what happened was that the furfags began to genetically alter their bodies, transforming themselves into real life beasts. At first they would wander the lowest levels of the transport network in most megalopolises, terrorizing, raping, and even cannibalizing anyone unfortunate enough to be caught. But their sexual deviancy knew no bounds, and before long, they were adding multiple penile protrusions to their phenotypes in addition to abducting entire families and turning them into beasts to be used as sex slaves subjected to diaper fur shittery. The scourge spread far and wide and furfags infiltrated all ranks of government to stall any attempt to counter their fandom.

Eventually, humanity had enough and ousted the furfags from government, and rose up against the scourge, and The Great Furpocalypse was the result. Hundreds of thousands of anti-fur squads scoured the lands in search of any signs of furries, and when they were found, they were butchered on site like the filthy animals they were. Each squad had a large mobile execution chamber where furries would be disembowled, gassed, skinned alive, or burnt in ovens.

Real story: Three families were abducted and forced into a life of furry prostitution in Los Angeles, by an organized crime syndicate which was paying bribes to the local police to stop them from investigating. The outrage when this was discovered was then used by Davidson to justify his scaremongering about the furries, seize control over the formerly democratic world government, and execute all his political opponents.

If you think mankind has the capacity to get all, or even half the energy it needs to feed its titanic food consumption from "renewable energy" you are sadly mistaken

Peak energy is coming and with it will come Peak civilization, unable to sustain our massive energy demands by the year 2020 there will be mass famine and governmental decapitation.

Welcome to the end of the age of oil and the new dark ages.

Humanity hasn't recovered since.

Solar power in particular is getting cheaper and more efficient all the time. Not to mention the work being done to create bacteria that excrete petroleum. The impetus to develop these technologies will increase dramatically as fossil fuels become more scarce.

It's likely that in 500 years we'll be into full blown transhumanism, the average person will probably be totally unrecognizable as human on a physical or psychological level.

>> No.1583779

>>1583468
Solar would be growing 10x is current rate if there weren't big limits in the amount of silicone the solar industry can get.

All it will take is oil to drop off to send people into a peak energy panic, the general population will realize that 7 billion people is billions more than the world can support without cheap energy namely fossil fuels. Once this happens i fear there will be a colossal waste of resources in an attempt to replace fossil fuels and maintain this lifestyle when in reality we as a society have been living far beyond our means for 150 years.

There is no possible combination of solar, wind, geothermal, or bio fuels that will keep the monster of world energy consumption going.

The idea that mankind can continue its growth model is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of our environment in society. As an intelligent civilization we have this tenancy to think we are above limitations of other animals and if theres a social problem we can just throw technology at it, while a deeper understanding of the problem shows that there is no true solution.

Wake up, we are living in the last years of the golden age of scientific progress, medicine, civilization, and much more.
