15314016 No.15314016 [Reply] [Original]

This is armchair anthropologist Edward Dutton otherwise known as the jolly heretic. I've been watching him for a while and have noticed a marked decline in both his content quality and behaviour. He is speaking faster and faster, he is perpetually interrupting guests, he looks more unwell with each upload, etcetera. His streams are becoming increasingly embarrassing to watch especially as he has sophisticated or intellectual guests on who starkly contrast his growing immaturity. What is going on? Is he on narcotics perhaps?

That's unfortunate to hear. I watch his youtube videos and I think his content has been getting better, if not just as good. He absolutely does have a tic of talking fast, its just a habit he's formed as a speaker - i think he was a prof for a time?
Regarding your concerns about how he treats guests, maybe send him an email? I notice he is very respondent to youtube comments

He can't take any criticism. He permanently bans people for asking if he's tired. Also he's not a professor but a docent at some Finnish University. I keep getting roped into wasting my time watching channels or people like this only to find that they are either frauds in some way or have some other derangement. I wish I had something else to do other than gawk at the internet all day.

just made me remember; he is just repeating the same points in pretty much every video for at least a year now, but it is becoming increasingly pronounced as time goes on. There has been a significant depreciation in the originality of his content. He also gets angry very easily now and is frustrated by absolutely innocuous comments. Like I said earlier, he looks as though he is ailing and whenever someone shows concern or curiosity they are banned permanently. Most odd. Perhaps he is unwell?

I heard him say he was when asked in a live stream. I'm not going to search around for it as it would take me a while. He makes cursory derogatory remarks about people who didn't get it though, in some earlier videos. You could probably find it if you search enough, but other than that all you have is my word and perhaps some others who can corroborate. Sorry.

All the elements of vector analysis, the mathematics of the del function, cross product, divergence, curl, the quaternions and the Hamiltonian (and with it the Laplacian) were all invented by an Irishman called William Rowan Hamilton. Also another Irishman George Bool invented boolean logic. I'm fairly sure that some high percentage of the discoveries made by the other countries listed here would have been impossible without these developments. I know it is hard for you protestants, but maybe think of includiing Ireland in that list. Lol.

He was a docent of Oulu University. That tile translates to adjunct professor in English.

Docent tanks at or below the professorial level and he has stated that he is not a professor unless you count an honorary professorship he received from a Polish University I believe. Which he himself does not. He appears to be a researcher currently. Besides, this isn't really relevant.

I am not religious, but was christened Catholic at birth by my Irish father. You cannot set your biases aside. You cannot even think beyond your thiest, sectarian prism through which all irishmen must view the world else be castigated as traitors. Ireland has made no native born significant contributions to humanity, let alone any contributions to parallel that of the anglo saxons. This is simply a fact. Call me what you will.

While he talks about interesting topics his analysis is often embarassingly bad. His discourse on religion is for example completely abysmal. For an academic his output is not very impressive.

>Docent tanks at or below the professorial level
A Finnish docent is equivalent to an associate or adjunct professor. This is someone who has at least two doctorates worth of research. It should also be noted that it is a title and not an occupation. A docent does not need to be employed at a university at all to hold a docent's title there.

Well he for example said that most people believe in god because otherwise they would have killed themselves, but assuming that one needs god to hold anything dear is rather silly. For example many Asian religions don't have an abrahamic concept of god, but they do very much hold things dear.
