You can make a good amount of money with a good RA. Really good RAs makes $60-$70 grand a year.

We have a handful of nuclear plants and coal plants, iirc. The main power company for southern Californian is Southern California Edison. Seems to do the job well enough, I guess. The power gets where it needs to go, at a reasonable price.

No idea what sort of pay you get, though, but I can tell you that yes, America is basically becoming a third world country at the rate its going, and you should be happy with your $40/hour in Canada, because it's not like you're going to get a better rate here. America hates its labor force with a passion and lauds the glorious capitalist. You will have the shit exploited out of you down here.

I am a grad student, yes. But I am not the only CERN guy who posts on 4chan/sci. I know at least 2 others CERN guys that post here (one being a Phd).
