hey /sci/ from Canada. Looking to go live around Mid to South California area. Got major in electrical engineering and minor in industrial energy. Went to University of Toronto. Would like to work in a power company. What type of power company are there around California?

Bruce Power doesn't pay shit here. Average is 1.6G week. $40/hr will not cut it for me.

Southern California Edison

Why would you be asking a general science board such a question if you are already an expert in the field? The only two possibilities I can think of for this thread would be boasting or trolling.

>>4296112

I'm not an expert. When you live around the area you tend to know more about your field in that area not the whole world. Unless your in management most people will not even know what Bruce Power is let alone where it is.

This is a science board. Not the unemployed teenager board. Most people have jobs in a field of science. He is allowed to ask questions.

>Most people have jobs in a field of science.

BWAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

There are like 3 people who post here who arent either

1) high school students/stoners
2) CC/unemployed fags trying to figure out how to save their ruined lives
3) university students screwing off

all 3 of them are graduate students. Even the fag who claims to be from CERN is just a graduate student.

there are no employed people (TA or RA salary does not count) on /sci/

Nope. America is becoming a third world country. No person in there right mind would move to america. They are only getting worse. I sure hope they keep voting republican, I wanna see how much they can fuck themselves over.

>RA does not count

You can make a good amount of money with a good RA. Really good RAs makes $60-$70 grand a year.

>> No.4296195

We have a handful of nuclear plants and coal plants, iirc. The main power company for southern Californian is Southern California Edison. Seems to do the job well enough, I guess. The power gets where it needs to go, at a reasonable price.

No idea what sort of pay you get, though, but I can tell you that yes, America is basically becoming a third world country at the rate its going, and you should be happy with your $40/hour in Canada, because it's not like you're going to get a better rate here. America hates its labor force with a passion and lauds the glorious capitalist. You will have the shit exploited out of you down here.

I am a grad student, yes. But I am not the only CERN guy who posts on 4chan/sci. I know at least 2 others CERN guys that post here (one being a Phd).
