Am I the only one that thinks inflatable heat shields are going to be way better than tiles for upper stage reuse in the long term? If you make them non-circular and place them on the side of a stage instead of the bottom of a capsule, you can cover everything from the crew compartment back to the engine bell. If you make the heat shield and tanks a self contained module that can be quickswapped between flights, you also decouple your TPS repair timeline from your upper stage reuse timeline, something Starship does NOT improve over the Shuttle on.

Well, the first attempt they'd never made it through a WDR even, it's not too surprising there were issues. Hydrogen is hard, but still, it's certainly absurd for it to be surprising that it works without issue. you will need to remain in NRHO (which requires active stationkeeping), then get a refueling ship all the way out there and have enough left over for itself and the HLS to return to LEO.
HLS is extremely tight on delta-V it's unclear if it even is capable of going into an aerobraking orbit after ascent to NRHO like >>14987093 suggests.
