I don’t understand how so many kids could be so talented at art at such a young age.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaPC8V_k6CYWKudWE9RQHaleXpUBAG0Q4&si=iA4Lu8e9c_K1BBIs
I’m hesitant to believe it’s any meme reason. I also don’t know that it’s just their time investment because there’s no way all of them had proper guidance going through school. Most of them are drawing at professional levels: you can’t do that simply by just grinding. The only common threads through all of them is that they do all sorts of different mediums and subjects and the fact they all seem to do frequent studies. Is this all you need?

How did so many of these kids get so good at art?

Is it really worth becoming a perspective autist like this? Or should I just "feel it out, bro", with a lot of figure drawing and stuff?

I have like 50 gigs of Krenz courses from the video course thread, and I'm wondering if I should even bother seriously studying this crap, or if I should just move on and draw what I like.

>50 gigs

How did you download that and end up not using any of it? Yes you should seriously study perspective because it helps you draw what you like even better than before. Anyone that can "Feel it out" can do so because they've sudied perspective at a deep enough level to do so and not have it look off.

The pic you posted is just basic perspective stuff

You should always be drawing what you like. Angle control is a skill that's meant to help you do that, you can just practice these skills with the things that you like to draw.

The most important thing is to figure what kind of person you are.

Are you a flaming faggot who doesn't care about drawing like shit, don't care about criticism and your art consists on drawing dicks on cartoon characters? Then you don't need perspective.

Are you a self-hating autist who shits on your own skills and could only be satisfied by producing great work? Then learning perspective is a must.

Assuming you are the latter, you will have a hard time finding a way to learn properly. Youtube is full of shit artists of the first kind, you have to find a Formal perspective series or pay a course online.

Learning perspective helps you develop intuition to imagine 3D spaces for drawing freehand. During your journey take your own notes on ratios for things in reference angles. For example a front facing perfect cube can be drawn by drawing a square and at the center of it another square that is 3/5 of the length of the larger one.

The best way would be to pull up one of their backgrounds and try to copy it. Right now your picture lacks depth, so it looks like I'm staring at a very close inclined hill. If that's the goal, great job. If not, you can add depth by fixing these things:

1. The color green at the top of your field and at the bottom are the same. As the field gets further away from us, it will get much lighter.
2. You have detail all throughout the field. We should see a lot of detail guiding our eyes in the front, a bit of detail in the middle, and depending on how far you wanna push the field out you can just use completely flat colors in the back. Seeing individual blades of grass on the horizon is bringing it way too close to us.
3. There's not a lot of contrast in the grass shadows. As grass gets closer to us it usually has some pretty deep shadows that appear. You do have a bit of those shadowed blades of grass, I'd push it further. These shadows give you interesting opportunities for appealing shapes.
4. You're building your field with round, puffy hills and blended shadows. These won't really be visible as they get further away. Broad patches of grass will get flatter, and tend to join in triangular shapes. Really pay attention to how small and thin most of the shapes get as they get further away.

You can see all of these things in this picture. Look up more Ghibli pictures to see these things in action, and look up real fields too. Even real fields will have all of these things.

A lot of AI tech bros using generative AI relish in pointing out that generative AI will replace the visual artist. I was wondering if this was true it least from a commercial perspective and actually found out that hollywood and big studios are firing AI prompters and hiring artists back again. The reason? They can't produce the same quality of work that real artists can, they don't take critique well at all (are very thin-skinned) They can't reproduce works in a same general style that real artists can, etc. the list goes on and on. It seems that there is still a commercial need for talented artists that have trained in this field.

Even for hobbyists, why shit on them as well? Do they really not see the value in what an artist brings? Perhaps it's more nuanced than that. I've used AI to help guide my drawing process like getting specific poses for references or even aiding in costume design ideas. However, my final works are drawn completely by me. I think there's a place for real artists to actually use AI like a tool and not have it replace creatives entirely

In China they're doing the same thing but the reason is different. Chinese Artists are cheaper than AI specially because they don't have the tech since Muricans put a buying limit on China.

I'm trying to learn perspective but almost no resource I find gives a formal, mathematical approach, which I seek to develop intuition properly.

In this case, I want to rotate this cube by its vertical axis from the angle in red at 45 degrees to the angle in blue, I know where the new diagonal should lie, but I don't know how to keep the scale of the cube consistent, I don't know where to cut the line to get the cube to be the same size but in perspective. Does anyone here know how?

I really don't understand either the reasoning for measuring the distance between a vanishing point and a station point and then drawing it over the horizon. I see it works but I don't know why.

I think I get it now. So they make similar triangles. The triangle I make from the station point will have a similar counterpart on the plane. Since I am forming an arc that will have a consistent radius, the radius that I choose will have the chosen length when it intersects with the VP line.

The importance of drawing the MP arc from the station point is to keep the relationship between that VP to the rest, right?

if you collect a thousand pictures for refs, and then start a project, you will constantly look for the perfect refs, and get frustrated for not finding it. Instead, when you dont have a project to work on, use your refs, if you collect them, to redraw then.

Some parts from the ref will remain in your brain, and you will be able to pull them when you need on a current project. Like an AI which used a thousand pictures to learn, and when its time to draw it mashes them up into something new,

>

go out of your comfort zone, draw cars, flowers, architectures, statues, furniture, trees, rocks. Everything will teach you something new, and when you will return to your comfort zone, what you learned will help you pass any current stagnations.

>

any line you draw from your ref, imagine going towards infinite, both ends. It will help you see easier the angle, see if its aligned with anything, and you will be able to use that something to put it into space, and, by making the line longer than it actually is, it will come more beautiful, straight, have better line weight
>

box in inside a box anything you are drawing, The upper, lower, rightest, and leftest parts of it will show the size of the box. Use the box for seeing negatives spaces, see where your infinite lines connect to the box, and use those 2 techniques in combination to correctly construct your ref

>

use the box and infinite lines techniques for breaking down all your refs, after a while, when drawing from imagination, you will be able to use those same techniques to make something on your own. If you dont have an idea to start from, draw a box and divide it with infinite lines a few times, and the go from there. An horizontal lines on the upper part of the square can be the horizontal line from somebody looking down, an inclined line can be the center line of a figure in motion, and depending where you place it on the square, you can have different effects

Yeah. Stuff like color theory or drapery or general anatomy has always felt pretty intuitive to me, perhaps because they require less precision. For similar reasons I think cooking is way easier than baking.
These days, I can sort of deal with perspective for landscapes, since those are more conducive to eye-balling. But urban settings? Interiors? Mechanical things? It's over for me

Luckily we live in the future, so just use an accessible 3d program to quickly block-out your scenes to use as a guide, rather than drawing them. Is google sketchup still a thing? I think that was the easiest 3D program out there, but there's always blender - you don't really need to know more than just moving around cubes and making the most basic of shapes, because you're only making yourself a guide, and not something to trace over.

>> No.7147893

>>7147698
its normal. think about the average person who doesn't draw and ask them to draw a full perspective scene. They couldn't do it. No human can just imagine full perspective, we're all imagining things as abstract shapes and descriptions. You have to actually train to think in 3D which is why drawing is so hard.

Even pro artists that seem to be able to draw perspective without rulers and shit, are just REDRAWING THINGS THEY DREW BEFORE. They are experienced in drawing many angle and perspectives, so they are pulling from their memory, which technically is not really building the perspective from scratch.

Drawing is a thing people are able to do, but it is just impossible to me, as if I was born blind, How are you supposed to recall so much information? how are you able to make things you are not seen it? How are you certain things you draw actually look what they do? I think I biologically lack the cerebral structures capable of it.

Maybe, I cannot retain semi-complex images In my mind for more than a couple seconds.

>> No.7147647

as a young autistic 6 year old I would put a paper over a book cover and trace the art over and over again.

later, when tracing again, I had an epiphany. A truly spiritual moment that made drawing click.

you don't actually have to copy it exactly. If the arm is pointing up, you could turn the paper and make it point at a different angle, you can mirror an element in a different position by turning the paper over, you can even scale up or down an element by staying a certain distance from the real lines.

there are infinite permutations of the thing you study, it only takes a little creativity to realize.

After two dozen traces, I would draw the art on my own. I can't draw the exact picture again, because it's gone from visual memory. But I do remember the composition, the content and also the lessons I learned from studying it, this hasn't left me in over 20 years.

I can at best just copy stuff, I have no idea how to make something I am not seeing. And only clear cut flat stuff like cartoons, realistic things like Anime are too complex I get lost, the angles are wrong things are different sizes and it ends up deformed and skewed.

Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH1WEYF8rlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284

Do not read anything into pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
If you have any additional questions, ask them.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills.

Recommended tablets:

>Screenless:
Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom

>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9"
Large (22"+): Cintiq 22HD, Cintiq Pro 27 - Make sure they have VESA standard mounting holes.

Avoid:

>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 8 years, nothing has changed. Consider reading the amazon reviews, particularly the negative spectrum and you will find some very common themes.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.

>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad

>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface

>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

Drawing with a mouse hurts my wrist. I used to draw with vectors in ms paint but that hurts my wrist too. After I resorted to drawing on paper I gained a lot, but I also couldn't go back to drawing with vectors because it was too slow now. And yet I feel compelled to draw digital art. When I make enough money I'll buy wacom, I don't even care if it breaks after one hour of usage. I need to feel it under my hand before I die at least once. I need to know what it feels like to make those smooth lines and brilliant colors

I use the Kamvas Pro 16 and haven't had any issues with it besides the cable they give you being short as fuck. So I'd vouch for the Kamvas Pro 13 as I imagine it's the same tablet just smaller.

Posting recent artwork done on my tablet to spite the OP and summon his ass to make some dumbass reply.

This flag is the ugliest thing ever. Like seriously. I blame 90% of lgbtphobia on this abomination of a flag.
The gays need to design something that's cool and edgy.
