He’s basically set for life. When a pair wears out he just has to grab another from his stock storage instead of having do sock shopping every few months. Very efficient and frees up time and energy for things that are important. The way normal people buy basics is akin to the way poor teenagers buy gas when they borroow their parents car - just putting $10 in the tank at a time.

Yeah if current trends continue that will be the case. The other thing to consider is geopolitical strife and possibly war. Alliances are moving away from the United States and it’s just a matter of time before China becomes the financial capital of the world. Cheap Chinese goods may not always be as readily available as they are now. China/asia could find new markets for their goods, including their own (presently) impoverished populations. For all the preppers squirrelling away storable food, toilet paper, golden coins etc, you may also want to think about hoarding some socks & undies and other clothing items. We take cheap imports for granted now, but it wasn’t too long ago that our forbears would commonly resort to sewing up holes in socks and patching and repairing torn clothes.

Trying to find a good tailor at the moment who I can work with on designing my ideal pants (have not found the right fabric/feature combo after exhaustive searching), then I'll have them make like 20 and buy the pattern from them as well.
I decided a couple weeks ago it was probably time to move past t-shirts and find a good button-down to buy a stack of, but again I'm having issues locating a good candidate. I haven't yet found a black 100% cotton midweight canvas tall slim-fit with either a single breast pocket or none (the holy grail would be a concealed pocket with vertical zipper but that feature by itself is rare). I might just end up getting those custom as well.

I wish I had bought a dozen plus of several clothing items in the past, as they become discontinued and the new versions are never as good. Pic related is a Carhartt K503 midweight 1/4 zip sweatshirt and I've got three but should have bought 20 of them because they're a clean design, classy looking and very well made but sadly they're no longer in production.

I own a nice Gitman Vintage button down Oxford shirt that is more of a classic/slim fit. That being said, most of their shirts are striped pattern with the exception of a few with chambray fabric
