I need a few very short extension cords (<1’) for some things that when I plug it into the wall it blocks the other outlet.
Is it cheaper for me to just buy a length of cord and cut and cap my own ends? Pic related is about $7 otherwise

cheaper and better to just replace the outlet

They make the plugs block the other outlet on purpose because the device draws too much current to have two things on the same outlet

if its in series with other outlets then blocking it wouldnt accomplish anything

I know what you’re thinking but it’s just remote control switches. The way the casing is sized it blocks the other outlet

LOL what a stupid-ass design. They should have put the switched outlet on the end, and made that front outlet a pass-thru. (if anything).

It's quite helpful for what it was designed for.
Also: It's not meant to be a permanent fixture.
You can do without the second outlet long enough to get the information you're looking for.

could be better...

Yeah it’s good but sometimes I want to monitor long term usage like how many KWH does my AC unit use in a month or how many watts does my PC use etc in which case I lose all the values when I unplug it so I prefer leaving it in continuously

This actually could work better for me

Invest in one of these and bask in its glory.
I keep one under my bed for all the devices I need.

Right Angle Nema 5-15P 15A 125V... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QVY2MRP

$5 ea when you buy 5qty.

I have some of these. They are sturdy enough, easy to use, assemble, and the plug portion can be rotated in any direction before installing the single retaining cover screw on the back.

This way you can have two of these on a domestic outlet; 1 swings to the right and down, the other swings to the left and down.

Premades are cheaper because plugs/sockets that don't suck are not dirt cheap. I buy them to make cords for machines and repair tools etc but no way would I not buy premade pigtails as you show there for that use.

Look around including egay and buy a pile.

was looking for one of these and found one brand new at a thrift store i was so excited. they're so useful for this bullshit, they're uncommon to find so you should probably just pony up for the overpriced online price but it's worth it i need more now
