I want to drop like 1k on M12 stuff, how much am I gonna save if I wait a month?
For the record there are free battery deals right now that I'm heavily considering jumping on

A lot of places already have their 'Black Friday' sales going on. There might be some one day only doorbusters kinda stuff, but there is already are already some really good deals out there. I actually picked up the brushless M12 hammer drill and impact driver with 3 batteries from Home Depot for $199 on Monday.

Yeah Home Depot runs their holiday sales from the last week of October thru like Feb 1, so you might as well buy now. And the “Free Tool” sales and such are generally the same across all the big retailers because it’s more of a manufacturer sale than a retailer sale.

>>2705085
This sale has been going for like 20 months out of the past 2 years. M12 Fuel drill and driver kit for $199-$229 with a free battery or a free non-fuel tool.

Opie check Home Depot’s website too because there are random sales you won’t see in-store, like maybe a Fuel hackzall or ratchet with a battery and charger for $10 more than you would pay in-store for the tool alone.

Also let it be said because there are lots of retards out there… if you’re going to spend $1k on 12V tools and don’t already own the basic 18V stuff like a full size hammer drill and saw(s) and an impact wrench for mechanic stuff, then your an retarded as well.

Black Friday is only a thing if you are actually high in melanin content and want to trample other high melanin content "people" for a television at a Wal-Mart in Chicago.

It's just bullshit.

There are sales on stuff all the time anymore. Black Friday sales are b.s. Anything that is some amazing deal has a limit on it and it's gone in seconds. Hell I don't know if they really even do that stuff anymore because people were actually getting in brawls and trampling each other to death.

I was in the trades for 7 years and got by fine with just M12 impact.
When you go from 12v to 120v AC, you realize 18v is meme

If you’re a sparky who is opening panels mostly, 12V is fine. But it’s shitty to try to build a cordless platform on it.

When you use good 18V, you realize extension cords are annoying and unnecessary.

Also Home Depot has a handful of Milwaukee kits on their “Deal of the Day”. It’s worth opening their app for a second when you’re on the shitter in the morning if you’re looking for deals. Tons of power tools pop up for a 24hr sale once every week or two and the prices can be better than the holiday sales.

If you like Christmas deals definitely get these. You'll be seeing green and red flashing lights from all the batteries that don't want to charge. Only two of my five m12 batteries don't have to be put on and off the charger about a dozen times before they actually charge. Maybe it's because they're my backup tools and the least used but these tools are also several years younger that my everyday tools that have only partially lost 1 of 10 batteries with the first, still working being 8+ years old. The tools are great for a homeowner lever or low level professional stuff but the battery failure rate makes me want to scrap the six m12 tools I have.

I do, m18 is precisely why I'm staying within the battery platform. Otherwise I would have gone DeWalt or even Snap-On (because I have a discount)

If that is true, a "new" 5 amp hour M12 battery costs $15 less than my vacuum that came with a 5amp hour battery. So at the end of the day the tools is being repurchased with the hopes that the batteries were actually fixed and I'm not getting an old battery sold as new

Unless you work in an actual trade. Electrical, plumbing and air conditioning are not trades. You are a technician

“Trade” isn’t synonymous with general contractor my friend. Even then, a couple saws and large sanding jobs are probably the only thing still corded on lots of jobsites.

Unless your definition of “trade” is custom woodworker or cabinet maker or some shit like that, and in that case you’re staying within a 10ft radius of a bench. And even then, you could replace some of those corded tools and realize it’s so much nicer not to be fucking with a cord or air line.

The stubbies are straight for general nuts and bolts, but they don’t do much that a regular 1/4” impact driver with a socket adapter will do.

The thing is when you only have one impact wrench, you kind of want one with some balls that will remove nuts and bolts that are a pain in the ass to get with hand tools, and the M12 isn’t going to loosen anything you can’t do with hand tools. The M12 won’t even take off lug nuts that were overtorqued by idiots at the tire shop, and that’s one of the main things you want an impact wrench for.

If you can only have one impact wrench for /o/ stuff, get one of the newer 18V mid torque brushless models. They’re good for like 600ft-lbs and will do almost everything on passenger cars. Plus the current mid torques are pretty damn compact, they’re shorter than most drills.

The only people who shill the 12V stubby as your first and only /o/ impact wrench are those who wanted Fuel for cheap and don’t wrench much and don’t own any other tools.

Also if M18 is too pricey for you, that means you shouldn’t buy Milwaukee. You obviously aren’t going to be using them 8hrs a week in a shop, and it would be dumb to limit yourself because you want to be a Red Fanboi like your favorite youtuber. There’s more affordable 18V/20V/24V brands that are more than enough for weekend wrenchers. Ryobi 18V is the best for DIYers, Ridgid and Kobalt are a step up and pretty affordable, and DeWalt 20v has better sales than Milwaukee and is still a higher end brand.

Best route for babby wrencher’s first power tools, get down on a 18V/20V/24V drill + impact driver starter kit because you shouldn’t be wrenching much if you don’t at least own a drill. And that 1/4” impact driver, you can stick a socket adapter in there and it does 90% of what that M12 stubby does. Then get down on a 1/2” brushless mid torque impact from that same brand, and now you’re set to do everything from small interior screws up to wheels and larger suspension bolts.

>inb4 some 17 year old says “no stupid I have the M12 stubby and it did everything I needed it to do that one time I did an oil change on my mom’s Civic!”
Wrench a little more and let me know when you had to borrow your friend’s 18V because you wasted all afternoon trying to remove some rusty bolt under the car and the 12V wouldn’t touch it.

Yeah, wrench a little more and you will see. You don’t have to touch many vehicles before you find a stud that was mangled by the stoned kid doing a tire rotation at Jiffy Bois.

I got a brand new m12 combo pack with two batteries, charger and a cloth carry case for only $165 from some seller on Facebook Marketplace. For some reason they always have new items there for far beyond retail price at least in the NJ and NY area.

The two 18V 5.0AH batteries + charger + plus tool deal for $199 is excellent, so long as you actually need one of the tools. I got the blower, since I actually needed that.

Doesn’t look like there’s an impact wrench offering though.

Pic related is a good /o/ starter. Ryobi dropped a new 1/2” compact that’s like 275ft-lbs, so you could get the high torque 1/2”, the compact 1/2”, and a brushless angle grinder and that’s an awesome little mechanic add-on kit for <$300.

There’s some decent DeWalt deals too,

The Powerstack kit with a 5.0 and 1.7 gives you two free XR/Atomic tools. No mid-torque or high torque, but the DeWalt compact 20V Atomic impact wrench has more balls than the 12V stubby, and they offer that new tiny 1/4” impact driver or an XR angle grinder.
