That's a stupid reason to learn Mandarin. Still, it's a cool language. My advice:

>Learn pronunciation and pinyin first, then move on to hanzi
>LEARN THE FUCKING TONES THEY ARE IMPORTANT

Also, nciku is the best site by far for learning/dictionary.
