if you have a pit in your shop or wherever, it's a matter of when, not if, you fall in it. inevitably, you be thinking of something or cut the corner, eat shit in it, and hopefully don't break ribs going down. i helped recover the forklift out of the pit in a friend's shop after one of his employees tried to take a shortcut across the wood 2x12s covering it. another thing to consider working in a pit is you really need a helper to grab tools and shit for you up top because it's a giant pain climbing in and out 50 times during a job
