Since you KNOW what a BMS looks like, here’s a pic of a Ryobi battery with a BMS inside of it but you can disregard it. There’s much more to it than that tiny circuit board the DeWalt packs have tying the balancing wires into the contacts. The Ridgid Octane BMS is a trip with the bluetooth and extra pickups.

In case anybody was wondering what the cheap Ryobi 2.0Ah packs look like inside.

Gotta mess with this one tomorrow. Cell #1 (where the - of the pack connects) is like 3.5V and Cells #2-#5 are all 0.7V-0.8V. So overall voltage is like 7.5V, but the board shuts is off somewhere so it’s only 80mV at the contacts.
