>Did he break his gang plank again?

Even better, he "designed", fabricated and installed (and subsequently re-"designed" and re- worked) his dedicated gangway/safety ladder but there's no corresponding passway through his raised bulwarks so once people are at the top of the gangway they must hoist themselves over what amounts to a pony wall.
It's not like there's no breaks or gaps in the bulwarks, the one at the bow is large enough for a cow to pass through and doesn't even have a door like a normal passageway on a vessel with bulwarks like that, so one has to assume that not putting one at that dedicated passageway point was a conscious refusal to accommodate weak people raised by women who might fear a trip hazard as they are suspended over the water and trying to make that transition to the Seekers deck, or the reverse.

If anyone with common sense suggested making an unobstructed passageway there at any point in the design/build process I'd bet money the response would be "NO. If you're afraid of crawling over the bulwark, don't come on my boat".

Avoid this if you can. I slept on stacked foam pads for a few years while I was very broke and it fucked up my back royally. I would try to pony up the cash for something at least decently comfortable.

Buy a stitching pony, buy a simple "leatherwork kit" from Amazon with a fork punch and a wheel thing for indenting your stitching line. Practice the double-needle saddle stitch (always overlap the same direction to keep the 'slant' of the stitches the same.)
Take some scrap leather and some pennys or dimes and make some heavy-duty "thimble" rings... make it a double layer with the coin in between and stitch around the coins to hold it in place.

The click is the lid lock solenoid trying to engage. There is a cam which prevents the lid lock solenoid from engaging until the tag on the lid pushes it out of the way. He's either fucked the cam or the switches, likely the cam itself. If the mechanism has been damaged in such a way that the switches are not engaging, the solenoid will keep trying to click in as the controller does not know when it is engaged.

You can either directly bypass the micro switches (which may also be damaged, you'll also need to work out if lid closed equals an open or closed switch) or just pony the fuck up for the part and make the hamfisted little faggot do the households laundry for the next month (or sell off some of his vidya shit).

The most important thing is a high quality grind.
When you are paying for USA made drill bits, the money mostly goes into QC and grinding tolerances.

If you want to step your drill bit game up, pony up the money for good bits from a machinist brand.
If you cant swing it, you can also take chinese bits and regrind them yourself.
If you get good with a drill doctor or a sharpening jig, you can make the chinese drills run better than new, assuming they arent bent or something else is wrong with them.

Just because something is chinese doesnt mean the grind is terrible, and some big box store brands can be great if it was ground on a good day. The problem is the QC wildly varies as they just arent paid or even told to hold high tolerances.

Learning about coatings can be fun and all, but youll realize that the only people who take it seriously are companies selling you $100 a piece drill bits.

the correct repair should it deteriote more is a pony wall and jacks, given the failing wall is holding up your floor. monitor your gutters/water management in that area. watch when it rains, ensure drip edge works. mind the basement on rainy days ensure no water comes from the wall. if you have a sump, keep it working.
in these parts the substrate is like a sponge, it swells when water hits it enough and itll shatter rocks and poured basements if the water isnt managed correctly. to put it mildly, i just finished a pony wall here, because the guys neighbor refused to fix their gutters. took a week after the pour and now u hear jackhammers nextdoor. once he pours the weakest wall will go next if the water isnt redirected.
>>2423331 is also correct but incomplete without witnessing the water management. that shit happens either due to age shifting or the substrate grows and shrinks. that shit looks mostly cosmetic but youre not showing alot.

You think this is funny?
I've already had to pony up cash for something sturdier than the basic IKEA bed base slats because making love to a big boned woman will really push swedegeneering past its piney limits.
I wanna say it was worth it because she was really sweet, but goddamn pain in the ass because I really liked the basic flush slats and they don't make em anymore, these days it's all arched shit and I can feel them curb even thru the mattress.
Look, all I'm saying is Queen was right.

My wife and I live in a house that cost $150k and if we really gave a shit and buckled down we could have it paid off in 24 months. But it's like .11 acres which is way to small for us. We want a decent sized house on some land that close to the capital of our state so we understand we're gonna have to pony up some cash and we're ok with that. In only 7 years our house has gone up in value to be worth $225k (every year it went up $10k in value) so we have some equity to apply towards our next house. But in my current house without even leaving my garage and stepping a single foot on the driveway I can literally count 8 houses. My wife and I both grew up in the country. I was on 24 acres and she was on 100 acres, so we miss the space. Also I need a bigger shop, we want to plant a garden, park a trailer/boat/camper on the land and have enough parking for 4 cars (us and two kids some day). But we also wanna be able to go into town and do stuff. Fuck man, our generation is getting butt fucked on housing. The dollar just doesn't go as far as it used to. I have NO idea how our kids are gonna afford to buy a house.

>OpenSCAD can do very complex things and very quickly once you learn it, a few minutes is not enough.

I know what OpenSCAD can do and how to use it. And i know there's no way i would choose OpenSCAD over FreeCAD. If i design stuff i really need to script, which happens from time to time, i'd much rather script in versatile python (and have access to way more possibilities to design stuff) than in some one trick pony language. CAD is supposed to take the math of my shoulders and make stuff easier, not more complicated.

I understand your critique about the questionable compilation of addons in the standard releases but if that is your main point that's a very weak reason not to use FreeCAD. All you have to do is not look at some weird workbench maybe 5 people on earth are using. Yes some barely functioning specialized boat hull design tools make very little sense in a general purpose cad system. There are a lot more relevant problems (i mentioned a few) but still none which would keep me from drawing up any of the projects in the OpenSCAD gallery and in probably most cases a lot faster too.

I'm not sure where i am preaching. I'm not trying to hide that FreeCAD has a lot of issues. I'm just tired of reading that FreeCAD is unusable and not worth a try when that is very clearly not the case. Most arguments seem to be the same as from the people who get super angry when they have to deal with libre office at work because MS Office is obviously much more reliable, much prettier, easier to use, has a lot more functions but all they do is write a letter a day and keep track of shared lunch costs.

I wanted to get some examples where FreeCAD is not suitable or impossible to use especially in a hobby/3d printing setting. Sentence got somehow lost.

>What sort of thrust washers do you add?

I add needle thrust bearings. I have an assload of them in different sizes that I got to have on hand for different projects. They come in handy once in awhile. Really pretty cheap too. I don't remember where I got mine, but they are similar to this:

https://www.vxb.com/NTA1220-Thrust-Needle-Roller-3-4-x1-1-4-x5-64-inch-p/nta1220.htm

That one Wilton that I got for $15 I absolutely stole. The big Columbian that I mounted on the service truck was with it too so I stole that one for $15 as well. The other two shorter Wiltons I think I paid $200-250 for at an auction, which really wasn't too bad. That deep jaw Wilton I had to pony up $400 for, but even then it's like a $1200-1500 vise if bought new. It was practically in perfect shape when I got it other than the paint.

Not necessarily. I once was stupid enough to work on a CRT TV just after I plugged it in, old Sony with a failing red gun. Anyhow I failed to discharge the supply capacitor and earned myself an excellent sparkle pony master charge that left a mark on my hand that is still there to this day. Best part is? I couldn't let go of the board until Mr. Cap decided he had enough, only 470uF as well. The capacitors OP would require would contain enough energy to blow his hand apart. If you're bored, charge up something like 4700uF at 500V and throw a pork chop on it, it illustrates the safety factor that much more. Playing with this stuff is just as smart as playing with a loaded gun in the hands of someone lacking precaution and experience.

>that's not a more accurate alternative
Its testing the mechanism of iron rods being moved by magnetism caused by current. If it can move a rod, it can move a compass.
When you realize what you THOUGHT made it work doesnt actually work, you need to sit and think real hard.
Dowsing is literally just peoples intuition, they use their prior knowledge of the land and where they think water might be.

They dont start dowsing far away where they think the water will NOT be, they go and start where it SHOULD be.

Then they do their horse and pony show with their sticks, hit a large vein of water and have convinced themselves something otherworldly happened.
Its placebo and why people get shit on for believing in it.
Its also why iron, aluminum, copper, twigs etc etc all "work" and everybody does it completely different.

Hey /diy/,
I want to replace the lawn my lawn with something that won't have to be mowed, and I was hoping to get some help choosing the replacement plant.

>Temperature: 24-90ºF or 4-32ºC
>Rainfall: 3.5 - 4.5 inches or 8.9-11.4 cm per month.
>The area has a good mix of sun as well as shade.

The selected replacement plant cannot exceed 6in or 15.2cm in height.

Below are some plants that I'm looking at as a replacement. Opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ruschia 'Nana' - Dwarf Carpet of Stars
Dichondra Repens - Pony's Foot
Dichondra argentea -Silver Falls
Dichondra micrantha
dwarf mondo grass
Scleranthus biflorus - Australian Astroturf
Elfin thyme
Kurapia
Frog Fruit
Sedum ternatum
