I want to make my own home remedies for showering, i've tried infused (16 days) olive oil + rosemary (i readed that this help with hair loss and psoriasis) and it was great, but i want to make other things on my own that's why i'm asking.

For hair treatment i heard that egg yolk mixed with other things like vinegar or aromatizand substances are great for your hair because egg yolk has all the nutrients that your hair needs and vinegar is good for detangling hair (i don't know why)

Anyone knows something about it what're the best remedies?

I want to make my own electronic cig that dosent look fucking gay. I also want to smoke custom nicotine that synthesize myself. how would i go about building an e-cig that looks good and isnt full of random chemicals (tar and shit). I also dont want the nicotine amount to be absurdly high compared to an average cigarette

>> No.2798134

Just buy your own vape like its called a box or something and then you can fill it with whatever you want. you can even make your own juice with pg and vg, just look them up, and add your own nicotine. or just buy someone elses. its cheaper to make your own though. or look up pod mods

>> No.2798226

Anything you make that uses a battery to heat a substance to a vapor is going to be gayer since you’re still sucking on a phallic device. Start by taking one apart and put it back together in a crackhead maguyver fashion if your still not dissuaded.
I’m more interested in the nicotine carrier personally, but just not enough to use a search engine. Everything on the market is propylene glycol or glycerin and I’d rather not inhale either. Water seemed obvious until I thought about it. Nicotine would dissolve but then probably get distilled out if you tried to inhale nicotine steam.

>> No.2798667

>>2798019
An e cig is basically the simplest electronic device you can build. Battery, button, coil of some kind of resistance wire like nichrome or kanthal at a minimum. If you want it to be safer than then mech mods of 2014 that occasionally blew up peoples pockets and faces add in a microcontroller and some code to check for shorts which is a bit more complex. Extracting nicotine from tobacco is a process. Alkalize tobacco with slaked lime and distill in water, extract with dcm, purify zinc chloride complex of nicotine through anhydrous ether. The yield isn’t great and you should probably just buy the salt form which is readily available and prepared by people who know what the fuck they’re doing. Put the salt into a carrier like propylene or vegetable glycol at an appropriate % and vape away. Frankly you should probably be able to look this shit up, it’s well documented and you shouldn’t need it spoonfed to you. If you do it generally means you’ll never actually do it because you can’t even bother to research the thing you supposedly give a shit about

>>2798226
There are vapes that use a percentage of water as a carrier but still ultimately rely on pg/vg blend. Aquios is the name. They burn at a lower temp and have a mix of (apparently) 30% water and some amount of pg/vg. You need oil as the carrier, pg emulsifies and vg thickens which brings the nicotine and flavorings together into a “cloud” for you to inhale. If you used 100% water it would just evaporate and you wouldn’t really get anything

If you want to go dead simple you could go with a simple box mod.

Remember with this mod you don't have a BMS or charge circuit. It's easy af to add a usb charging circuit.

You don't have a lot of safeties built in. It's easy to cook off your batteries. You also don't have a cutoff so it's easy to drain the batteries down too far and shorten their lifespan.

Parts
18650 battery sled
2x 18650 batteries. look for high amp batteries
510 connector
IRLB3034 mosfet.
wire
battery charge module (if wanted) TP4056

When it comes to nicotine amount. That's determined by your mix. VG/PG with nicotine is the norm.

>fireman style trigger
or
>thumb style trigger
>no pistol grip
>no internal plastic parts
>usable spray settings (mist, jet, shower, flat. no other bs like flood, down angle, or cone)
been using Orbit brand but these cant take a drop, and start leaking.
Best I found so far is pic related. Unfortunately they dont have the style of trigger I want, and they dont have multiple spray settings. https://garrettwade.com/product/pistol-grip-nozzle
Been looking at FANHAO, and DRAMM but I see too much plastic, and useless spray patterns.
other HD sprayers like Tri-Con are all pistol grip with an adjustable nozzle. I do not like or want this style.
What can anon recommend?

I learned stick welding at a class, i passed a test so i got a certificate. I dont think that makes me a welder nor do i care. But i want to know why people say MIG is sooo much easier, why even learn stick if MIG welds come out good without 45 years of welding experience?
Some welders say it can be very practical in bizarre situations like whay if if you are hanging upside down a bridge and have to bend a rod to reach a hidden section? You cant carry a wire feeder with you, so they say.
Others say the shielding gas is worse with MIG than with stick, but that should be a moot point with that special MIG wire that comes filled with flux and can generate its own gas.
Bottom line, why is MIG easier? It seems like the same process, just with a continuous rod

Certified welder here- my old instructor explained that MIG is like using a can of spray paint. smooth, constant, etc and the only thing you worry about is the angle of the torch.
with stick you have to pay attention to your position, length of the electrode, arc length, etc.

>why even learn stick if its easier

As you said it is almost the same but continuous. I honestly have no idea but I can say that stick is cheap and effective, with the added bonus of some rods being made for deeper penetration.

>if you want deeper penetration just use CO2 shielding gas

right, but how about that fill and cover pass? Not to once again mention how cost effective it is.

>flux core is the exatly the same as stick in performance. cheep, deep pen and filling, plus ease of use.

other than mechanics doing frame work and this bridge manufacturing buisness in Ohio I know no-one uses it. stick is popular, cheep, and in my opinion way easier to run than flux
flux core is just as dirty with its slag but it cant clean up as well as stick.

Had an old blue Bosch 14.4V drill that was working fine, but the batteries it came with all died.

These were Nimh iirc. Opened them up and found the cell size written on each OEM cell. Ordered new cells from ebay and soldered those into the batteries in place of the dead cells.

I still have that drill and although it's definitely no 18V lithium as far as power, it's nice to have around for jobs where two drills = fewer bit changes.

I think I paid around $15 for enough cells to repair 1 battery. Ended up repairing all 3 eventually.

Exactly. Everything is already electronic drivers.
In fact, they could step it up to any arbitrary voltage in the pack itself if they wanted to with 97% efficiency if the collective idiocracy forgot how to design a 12 V motor. Although, they could disassemble one of the billions of 12 V automotive starter motors for some clues.

So far what i've found on this board is:
>go and ask a stone mason for a headstone that has not been paid or broken/waste stones
>go to a concrete plant next to a river and ask for river stones that are too big to be used as gravel
>go to a lime-sand brick factory and ask for clay and soile they have extracted

What other way are there to get your hands on cheap materials?
Which other waste materials could be useful and be acquired cheaply?

Never heard of using valuablrvstone for ballast like that, but places that relieve large shipped items that aren't containerized will often have crates and cradles that are one way items and cab be gotten for cheap, or nothing.

Aa for fabricators, besides the ones mentioned like I say it depends on what materials you want...you may need to think backwards by thinking of who uses the stuff you need and seek them out. Also look to places that do operations for multiple types of industries...placescthat do waterjet and other production machining will often generate cool shapes that just get cut off and sold as scrap, that you can pay slightly more for but still get very useful parts for next to nothing.

FWIW places that do military contracts or work in highly regulated fields like aerospace tend to get rid of material that is slightly out of spec, damaged in one spot, worn tools like drill bits that still have plenty of use in them, outdated or worn jigs that can be cannibalized, and so forth. Search around for where experimental aircraft and DIY boat builders go for that kind of thing in your area area if you are near any kind of manufacturers and you can hit the mother lode.

That place tends to be pricey so shop around...but also note that unlike syringes for water thin or slightly viscous liquids, that one has a knurled and threaded collar/ferrule that clamps the needle tip onto the barrel so it can't pop off under the force needed to pump thick material through it.

There aren't any holes in the end of caulk tubes when you buy them, so you can make the hole whatever size you want. If you need the hole to be smaller than what cutting the tip off gives you, pierce the end with a small nail or something instead. We have a Red Lion G308A210 HMI on a machine at work with touchscreen issues. The touchscreen will work for one minute and then become unresponsive for 10-20 minutes, then it may work for 1 or 2 minutes again and then it dies again. Power cycling it does nothing. The machine manufacturer wants 12.000€ for a replacement, with a 6.000 euro "core" refund when we return the broken one. Some questions:
Is it really the touch panel? The fact that its somewhat intermittent makes me think it may be a board issue. I don't want to fuck with it and then the manufacturer not accepting the core back if the touch panel replacement doesn't work.
The HMI uses a CompactFlash for the software. If we buy a used/refurbished one from Ebay, same exact model, will it boot the program with the old CF card in it and just work or does it require further programming?
Is replacement of the touch panel a matter of peeling the front "sticker", replacing touch panel (I think it's not fused to the LCD) and then applying the "sticker" again?
Will heat on the edges of the touch panel work temporarily?

>i thought you said it wasn't the touch panel?

I mean, it could. But meh. 200 euro is cheaper than 3000 euro (for a used/NOS one) or 6000 euro (for a manufacturer approved solution

Replacing with something different it is not really feasible as it runs a complex program for a 100.000 euro rotary die label cutting machine and it communicates with a Mitsubishi PLC with multiple controls. Rewriting the software from scratch is a great undertaking. Upgrading to a newer Red Lion HMI could work, and I could probably upgrade the program to run on it myself (I would only have to create a new button to open the sidebar that triggers with the menu hardbutton, and maybe fix some graphical stuff due to different screen resolutions) but I'm officially just a machine operator that unofficially does mechanical and low voltage electrical maintenance on them, and undertaking such a project is way above my paygrade. And would not lead to any improved future prospects here, as were a small and I can't go any higher. Maybe a 50 or 100 euro tip from the boss but meh.

FWIW, lightly heating (50-60 degrees) the screen borders with a heatgun on low has mostly fixed the problem (only a couple of missed taps now).

Speed adjustment is required pretty often and that happens on the screen too using a slider instead of a rotary encoder.

>how do i pump that silicone inside?
Average silicone gun will do but get some sort of vacuum. Slightly over fill the mold and put it in the vacuum. As it pulls the air out, the silicone gets drawn into the mold. If the part is small enough, you can get away with sous vide bag and pump.
Molding is something to look up on youtube so you can see and visualise how it works.

I brought this up before you're going to want some chromium wire and m12*60 screw gl it won't be injection mold though. The screw would have to be a different shape for it to generate pressure. I made a thread about it a few months ago.

I think anon was looking at a different model. They vary widely. Linesman pliers could go from like $30 up to $50+ based on grip and features. The cutters are like that too.

And Amazon is pretty fair with Knipex pricing unless it’s from a 3rd party. Shipping doesn’t hit you hard on a $40 pair of pliers. The increased costs because of the free shipping shows up on <$10 items that are $9 on Amazon but $4 at your local store because they factor in the same day shipping. Also on heavy/oversized items, which is why you will rarely find a floor jack or something on Amazon for less money than Harbor Freight.

A ~50pk of zip ties or a single roll of teflon tape is the same shit. But once you get to the 600pk+ of zip ties or the 10pk of teflon tape, you could probably save money ordering online.

I've wanted to make a slide-out game controller for phones for a while. I have a software background, so I'm comfortable learning new technologies, but I'm not sure where to begin. My initial idea is to buy an 8bitdo micro and simply shove the guts into different shell that I print to prove the concept. What's the legitimate approach?

You find a board manufacturer, buy a P&P and reflow oven, and piece it together with parts you find off digikey, or go on JLC and overpay for them to assemble it for you, then you contract with local materials science or plastics company (every town I've lived in there's always one within a 30 minute drive) and have them make the cases, or if you're dirt cheap bite the bullet and order them from China and accept the company is gonna reuse the molds themselves or sell them off to someone who will, then again If it's a small run they'll make em out of aluminum so it won't last long anyway, then you piece the whole thing together with threadforming screws. If your line actually takes off, same story, but you're gonna wanna drop a ton of cash on water-cooled steel molds and etch the PCBs yourself, the price per unit will drop on components on their own.

Any tips for starting a handyman/residential service llc? I've done odd jobs off and on for the last 5 years and picked up a lot of basic repair skills fixing apartments, but I want to find something that I can get rolling as quickly as possible and have one or two things we can book out in advance with predictable time frames. I was thinking carpet cleaning and powerwashing would be good in this regard but I'm very open to any ideas you guys have had success with. I'm also interested to hear your stories of how you got started if you ever tried something like this.

Painting is a pretty low-skill requirement job and it could help fill schedule gaps.

>> No.2798305

Depends on want you want to do what clients need and how big your ladder is. gutter cleaning, junk removal and vent/dryer cleaning never go out of style.
Power washing sucks IMO but people pay more for soft washing.
Drywall repair is easy money and hanging TVs is cake too. You can make 50 or more an hour doing any of those things provided you can set up the work yourself.
Get new customers from service apps like handy, thumbtack, Angie’s list. Fuck paying for leads though, take sone job from them for dirt pay then talk to the customer directly about cutting out the greedy corporate middleman a build a relationship from there.
Learn to make professional looking invoices, includes notes and terms and anything that might protect you from an asshole customer.

The majority of people come here at some point for a fantasy DIY thing they have but never go through with it. But it's nice to talk about it and find out how plausible it would be if you actually follow through with it.
In my case, i have a friend who's interested in the same dumb idea as i am
Idea is to get a castle built basically, plain and simple. To avoid sounding or looking autistic we just say manor and dont have the idea to add in fake battlements and towers, just a set of buildings that naturally wall itself off from the outside world with a courtyard in the center, to house a few families worth of people (my family, his, and possibly some other friends)
it'd have a reasonable square footage per person, and if my career and inheritence goals become fulfilled i should be able to afford as much as 700k for building the home, he might be able to afford 250k-500k depending on if he ever manages to create a successful business, and additional rent could be collected from any other roommates living with us
lets say a construction crew builds the walls and foundation out of limestone or granite bricks, and professionals do the electrical, plumbing, and heating work, as well as the roof frame, could I feasibly construct the floors (going up to 4 stories tall at the highest), install the roof tiles, and rennovate the rooms using mostly lumber and plaster? I'd have help of course, but I'd be concerned that a full time job would take away the time i need to properly construct it.

like i said its a fantasy, and unrealistic, of course its not gonna happen
it could happen if where i see myself in a decade was where i am right now, but right now i'm a poor college student studying to get to that point
and i'm not gonna get my castle because by the time i get to that point the world will have changed too much to allow for me to do a project like this, unless it changes in a positive way which just wont happen
>>2798774
concrete blocks are cringe and gay, i'd rather have a mcmansion than a castle made out of fake bricks
theres a limestone quarry near me and the quotes i've heard for prices dont seem unreasonable for now
but like i said that'll probably change and i'll loose my chance

No, it isn't and indulging stupidity one knows is stupid is a waste of thought and time better spend doing or studying seriously both of which are much more fun wanting to improve their lives.

not true
knowing what you can and cant do sets you up for understanding what you can and cant do in daily life, and once you get over unrealistic goals you'll have a better idea of how high you can set goals in the future

i didnt even really read your post because i know it's just weird autistic shit but you would probably need 10 million dollars to build a castle. do you have any idea how expensive stone masonry is?

your fucking foundation alone would probably cost a million. i'm not joking.

god you weekend warrior faggots are so insufferable. in 2024 a million dollars gets you a newly constructed 3 bedroom 2 bath wood framed house built in a flyover state.

>> No.2799028

>>2798824
>do you have any idea how expensive stone masonry is?
yes i do, and its not as bad is i previously thought it'd be
materials are something of the order of 10-30$ per square foot of full bed stone (3-5 inches or more)
then you double that number to account for the interior and exterior layer and add in the square footage of the missing corners
and you either leave it double thick or you fill in the gaps with stone rubble and mortar or with reinforced concrete
what would get me here is labor costs, not material costs

Yeah I've tried for local government positions but my county is also notorious for nepo hiring. If it is a public job then they will have a process in place for all appointments so that they can’t be accused of hiring their friends and giving them cozy jobs. If it were a private wildlife park/resort then having a panel makes less sense because they would probably not have the resources to assign three people to vet you.
